A little about us and our business
We are a husband and
wife team who relocated to the island of Fuerteventura
with our 3 children in September 2007.
We have a villa
with a small swimming pool and Lorraine was determined
that our pool would be safe for our youngest child to be
around.
In addition to this,
we had a couple of families with small children who
stayed in our villa prior to the installation of our
pool. They told us that
if our villa had
already had a pool, they would not have chosen to stay
there, purely because they wouldn't have felt
that they could relax whilst on holiday due to the
obvious dangers of small children around an unguarded
swimming pool.
With all of this in
mind, we set about finding the safest, most effective,
attractive and affordable pool safety solution. We didn't like the option of a safety cover,
as we have stayed in villas before which have this type
of pool safety device and found them to be cumbersome
and awkward. There is also always the temptation to
think that "just this once, we'll leave the cover off"
and that is obviously a recipe for disaster, so we
started to look for a viable alternative.
After much
research on the internet, it became apparent that the
only option in the Canary Islands at that point in time
was to either build a wall around your pool, or to spend
alot of money having some kind of permanent fencing
structure installed. Our garden didn't really lend
itself to either of these options, so when Lorraine
found a number of manufacturers in the United States who
make
removable safety fences,
she set to work on sifting through all of the
information to enable us to make a decision with regard
to which we thought was the BEST.
Following
this, we made a trip to the States ourselves to meet up
with a few safety fence installers - we came away with
the definite impression that in terms of both the
product and the customer support provided, the
Guardian Pool Fence System
was the best choice for The Canaries.
Following a number of discussions with
the Company Director at Guardian, based in the sunshine
state of California, we not only ordered a safety fence
and
self-closing gate for
installation at our own villa, we also decided that this
should be a safety product made available to all pool
owners throughout the Canary Islands.
We subsequently
obtained the sole rights to distribute this
purpose-designed fencing system throughout
Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife and Gran Canaria. We
are confident that the rigorous testing performed in
America (in a land where the culture of SAFETY is
paramount), is more than adequate to ensure that the
product we have chosen to import is the right one for
these beautiful islands. We also checked that the system
had passed the strict tests applied in France, the only
European country we are aware of at the moment who
actually enforce private swimming pool safety laws.
Our aim is to work in tandem with Swimming Pool
Installers, Garden Landscapers, Property Management
Companies and Estate Agents to ensure that all holiday
home owners are aware of pool safety issues and of the
benefits of installing a pool safety fence system.
We want the installation of a pool safety fence to go
hand-in-hand with the installation of a swimming pool or
a spa. The protection of children around water should
NEVER be overlooked.
After all,
the Canaries are a sought after holiday destination for
many thousands of families, and we should be able to
provide a safe option for these families to enjoy the
sunshine and the laid back atmosphere - allowing them
the luxury of having a stress-free holiday, safe in the
knowledge that their children are protected from the
obvious dangers which exist whenever children are
tempted by the crystal blue waters of a fabulous
swimming pool......
